Tons of Spilled Tuna In Manta Quickly Recovered Thanks To Bystanders
A flood of frozen skipjack landed on the asphalt of a roundabout in the Port of Manta due to a defective truck door. Around three tons of fish fell out of the container and blocked the traffic. With the help of the guard, police, many bystanders, and workers of the company owning the tuna load, the cargo was transferred into another vehicle and brought to the processing facility. These kinds of tuna transports in Ecuador are guarded by security personnel.
Although some people tried to steal the fish, the quick intervention of the guard and to police prevented the situation from turning into a riot. As an appreciation of team effort, solidarity, and honesty, the owner gave the helpers around a hundred skipjack.

Did the cannery throw away the fish because of sanitary reasons or can they clean the fish and use it? I mean it would depend on how long all those fish were lying out in the hot sun on the asphalt, right?
