European Tuna Conference 2025 Latest News
The European Tuna Conference that will be held on May 5, 2025 in Barcelona is increasingly taking shape. Today, Atuna is announcing the event’s three sessions under the theme: Navigating the Evolving Tuna Landscape: Balancing Sustainability, Supply Chains, and Market Dynamics.
In each session, a panel of speakers will give their expert views on the topic, and there will be plenty of time for discussion and interaction.
Session 1: What Impacts Will Trade Protectionism Have On The Future Global Tuna Supply Chain?
The ongoing rivalry between the US, EU, and China is changing global trade patterns. It could lead to supply chain fragmentation, more regional processing, and a push companies to diversify supply chains amidst rising protectionism.
Session 2: Will Increased Demands For Transparency And Ethical Sourcing Benefit Or Burden The Tuna Sector?
Advancements in AI, traceability standards such as GDST, and regulations like CATCH and FSMA are driving a higher level of transparency, sustainability, and consumer protection practices in the global tuna industry, and this could result in companies to reshape their sourcing strategies.
Session 3: Is There Still Room For Growth Or Have We Reached The Maximum Tuna Can Generate?
2024 brought record Pacific catches but fleets elsewhere faced struggles. With fluctuating raw material prices, uneven processing hubs’ performance, and market recovery across human and pet food sectors, what would be the road ahead for the industry’s future?
The full description of the sessions is on the ETC2025 website. Registration will soon be open.
