Armed Forces Recover Stolen Tuna Truck In Manta

The Armed Forces of Ecuador intercepted in Manta a stolen truck carrying tuna raw materials for the Eurofish canning facility in Manabí. The GPS tracking device placed inside the truck led the officials to the criminals who were reportedly offloading the stolen items in a neighborhood in Manta.

On July 17, the vehicle was leaving the port for the Eurofish factory when the perpetrators intimidated the driver at a traffic signal and stole the trailer. The security company that installed the tracking device was immediately alerted and they located the truck. The Armed Forces acted promptly and the criminals were caught red-handed within a day. Officials are investigating whether more people were part of this operation. Details about the criminals and whether they are being detained or released were not disclosed.
