Korean Tuna Pet Food Found “Unsuitable” For Taiwanese Cats
The Taiwanese government recently conducted tests on pet food imported from Korea. A tuna item was found to have “mercury exceeding about 8 times the Taiwanese standard of 0.4 ppm.” The product in question was ‘MeoChap Tuna Freeze-Dried Snack’ manufactured by Ishida Pet, with an expiration date of October 31, 2025.
Authorities conducted tests on 144 samples. Six products, one tuna and the others were meat, were found to be “unsuitable for pet consumption,” reported Taiwanese news sites. Salmonella was detected on the meat pet food samples. A Taiwanese pet owner said Ishida Pet was famous among them but the test results were shocking. “I trusted it because it said it was for veterinary use, but I feel betrayed.” In August this year, Ishida Pet was accused of selling tuna products with excessive mercury content but it had denied the claims.

What hypocrisy , Taiwan boats catch and land plenty of bluefin with much higher levels, for human consumption.
