A press service of the European Commission recalled that under the current agreement, the EU pays a compensation of Euro 860.000 to Gabon, 60 percent of which is channeled to financing fisheries policy by Gabonese government.
The agreement allows 24 tuna seiner boats, 12 Spanish and 12 French, and 16 surface long-liners to catch fish in Gabonese waters.
The new negotiations will review the quotas, the number of boats and the financial compensation to be paid by Brussels.
