Alliance Will Produce 50 Pct Pole And Line In Indonesiaff

PT. International Alliance Foods Inc.(PTIAFI), an Indonesian subsidiary of publicly listed AllianceSelect Foods International Inc., has announced its intentions to align itself with their customers increasing requirements for more sustainable canned tuna. PTIAFI sayst plans to export up to 25% of its output from pole and line sourced tuna in 2011 and increase this to 50% in 2012. “The targets are realistic. The company already exports pole and line tuna. We have made further arrangements to expand procurement from local sources,†Says PTIAFI Managing Director Teresita Ladanga.
PTIAFI’s pole and line caught tuna comes complete with traceability and is certified by the Indonesian fisheries department. PTIAFI says it will encourage more pole and line fishing and is looking at ways to invest in its current relationships to double its pole and line output.
PTIAFI operates a 60mt per day cannery in Bitung, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
