DSC Logistics, an integrated logistics and supply chain management company headquartered in Des Plaines, Illinois, was named Lead Logistics Partner for StarKist Co., leading producer, distributor and marketer of shelf-stable seafood products in the United States. DSC will be responsible for managing the complete supply chain for StarKist’s canned and pouched tuna products, from the products’ port of entry to DSC’s Logistics Centers, and then to StarKist’s customers.

DSC will provide transportation and logistics services from ports on the east and west coasts to five of DSC’s Logistics Centers. In addition, DSC will operate a Centralized Distribution Center (CDC) in southern California to serve the five regional Logistics Centers. DSC will provide all transportation administration and management services from the five locations to StarKist’s customers.

“We were awarded the StarKist business because of our collaborative approach to designing their supply chain, as well as our capabilities, our nationwide consolidation program and our experience and expertise in handling food products. Their ability to sit down and work with us in an open and honest manner helped lay the groundwork for a successful start-up and also speaks volumes about how they value their supply chain partner. So we are extremely happy to have a new partnership with StarKist, and look forward to helping them grow their business,” commented Ann Drake, DSC’s CEO.

Jerry Seidell, StarKist’s vice president, supply chain remarked, “StarKist’s vision is to lead the global seafood category by providing great-tasting, healthy products that meet the needs of today’s consumers and customers. Finding business partners that can help us achieve this vision is critical — we are confident that DSC’s capabilities and experience make them the best choice for StarKist’s Lead Logistics Partner.”
