The smaller vessels of the Basque coastal fleet that are participating in the Albacore campaign are reporting better catches than last month.
Each of these hook and line vessels have landed an average 7,000 kg of Albacore in the last few days. This is a promising figure compared to the initial poor catches and the "disastrous" anchovy and Atlantic mackerel campaigns in the spring.
There is no information yet on the catches of the bigger vessels that use live bait and began fishing on July 1st.
