Thai Union Group has recently signed a contract for using “Carbon Footprint” trademark in its Green Curry Canned Tuna.

The Group, represented by Mr. Somsak Smittiset, Factory Manager of Thai Union Manufacturing Co. Ltd., took part in the contract signing ceremony for using “Carbon Footprint”.

The event was hosted by National Science and Technology Development Agency, Ministry of Science Technology and Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (public organization) at Kamolthip Room, Siam City Hotel, Bangkok.

The Investor Relations Officer for Thai Union Frozen Products Public Company Limited, Mr. Wai Yat Paco Lee, talked briefly to Atuna.com about it.

Atuna.com: What does the contract imply as Thai Union obligations?

Paco Lee: It is a voluntary activity. We have to measure how much carbon dioxide is being generated during processing from raw materials to the disposal of the product.

Why did Thai Union chose Green Curry Canned Tuna for such activities?

It was a good item for study since there are many ingredients involved in the production of this product.

Is that a new activity for the Group?

Yes, it is a new activity. We will use the numbers to be collected as the starting point of our overall study.
