Iran is ready to receive a large supply of tuna from Indonesia.

Indonesian exporters and Iranian importers have agreed on the fish quality and prices. Indonesia is targeting to export 2000 ton of tuna starting January 2010.

“A larger prospect is very open,” said the Director of Foreign Marketing of the Maritime and Fisheries Department Saut P. Hutagalung in Jakarta.

Several Indonesian exporters are ready to extend the market to Central Asia and Middle East.

The product quality has fulfilled the required standard and political relationships as well as both countries’ economies are running well. The export of fish products to Iran in 2006 amounted to US$120,000 and increased to US$ 260,000 in 2007 and US$ 1 million in 2008.
