Despite the report last week by a Kaliningrad-based shipping company that the crew of the Thai Union-3 fishing trawler may be released in the coming days, there was no confirmation about this so far.
The tuna vessel was hijacked off the Seychelles on October 29. Last week Tuesday, the Russian fishermen were allowed to talk with their families by means of radio communication.
Sadly enough, it seems most likely that the Thai Union-3 crew will see the arrival of the New Year in Somali pirates' captivity. The crew consists of 23 Russians, all residents of Kaliningrad, 2 Filipinos and 2 Ghanaians.
Atuna.com’s thoughts and prayers are with the Thai Union-3 crew and their families.
