Princes
UK is launching a new tuna product to meet growing consumer demand for healthy snacks.

Princes Tuna Bites - cubes of tuna in Tetra Pak cartons - are available in three variants, Tuna Bites in brine, sunflower oil and with sundried tomato.

The new Tuna Bites are the UK's first Tetra Pak tuna products. The launch follows the success of similar products on the continent and is supported by the continued growth of savoury snacks, which have risen 8% in the UK in the last year.

The new Princes innovation is designed to drive further growth in the canned fish category by expanding usage and increasing weight of purchase.

The lightweight, square shaped packs are easy to store in the kitchen cupboard and carry home from the supermarket. Unlike cans, once opened, the cartons can also be kept in the fridge for a few days.

The new range will be supported by a consumer PR campaign, in-store promotions and sampling.

Ruth Simpson, marketing director for Princes Foods, said: "Currently more than 67% of tuna is eaten at home as part of a main meal. We're confident that through new product packaging and innovation, we can encourage consumers to use tuna in new ways, and drive further value into the category.

“In recent in-home placement the Tuna Bites were judged to be a convenient healthy snack, without sacrificing on taste or quality. We expect the versatility of the products, which can also be used in pasta bakes, salads and sandwiches, to prove popular with consumers.”

Princes Tuna Bites are available in 375g Tetra Pak cartons with an RRP of £1.79.
