Somali pirates on Monday hijacked a Taiwanese tuna fishing vessel in the Indian Ocean near the Seychelles.
The European Union's Horn of Africa maritime security center in London identified also the hijacked British ship as the 32,000-ton Malaspina Castle, which is operated by an Italian shipping line.
The center's website said the 24 crew members of different nationalities are safe, according to CNN.
Taiwan's Council of Agriculture's Fisheries Department said the Kaohsiung-registered fishing vessel MV Win Far 161 was also hijacked Monday by Somali pirates.
The 800-ton tuna fishing seiner with a crew of 30 was in waters near the Seychelles off East Africa when it was taken over, according to Etaiwannews.com.
Meanwhile, the Mombasa, Kenya-based East African Seafarers' Assistance Program identified the German container ship hijacked between the Seychelles and Kenya on Saturday as the 20,000-ton Hansa Stavanger.
A French yacht and a Yemeni tugboat were also seized by pirates over the weekend.
