Sojitz To Start Usd 20 Milion Tuna Farming Project In Jemen ff

Yemen Source: The Yemen Observer Minister of Fisheries Wealth Mohammed Shamlan held a meeting Monday with a representative of the Japanese Sojitz Corporation to discuss measures taken to carry out a memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides to implement a project of fattening tuna costing $ 20 million.
The meeting discussed techniques to be used in the implementation of the project, which aims at fattening small tuna to increase their weight to 400kg.
The representative of the Japanese corporation said that it is first experiment in Yemen, and in the region more generally.
The minister expressed the readiness of the ministry to offer all facilities for the Japanese corporation to carry out its project within the agreed executive program.
On the other hand, the minister met chairman of the Austrian G U Space company to discuss the possibility of benefiting from the company’s services in field of space monitoring.
The minister said the Yemeni fisheries sector needs a modern monitoring system to observe ships and boats entering Yemeni regional waters in order to prevent illegal fishing. He said that the ministry would study the company’s offer in this regard.
