Three maritime areas will concentrate all the tuna farming activities of the Cartagena region. Those areas will be concentrated in San Pedro, the Gorguel and Percheles. The Spanish Ministry of Fisheries announces that it will not give licenses for farms of tunas outside those areas. The Council of Agriculture will accumulate in the three selected maritime areas all the tuna farms that are currently scattered around the Murcian coast.
This project, announced yesterday by the head of the Service of Pesca and Acuicultura of the Community, Emilio Maria Dolores, brought a surprise to several members of Association of Industralists of Túnidos of the Region of Murcia (Asetun). That will be the time that all the proposed areas have been completed.
At the moment the Council of Agriculture is completing the writing of the sheet of conditions and "in twenty days it will leave published for the accomplishment of these two projects". After the marine areas have been approved it will come down to the distribution of the spaces.
