More South African Fresh Yellowfin By Air To Europeff

The South African air cargo shipments of fresh chilled whole round Yellowfin tuna to the European Union (EU) are flying high. This can be concluded from analyzing the 2007 export figures.
South Africa supplied the EU 522 M/T of fresh w/r Yellowfin in 2007 which was 5% more compared to the previous year’s deliveries when the quantity equaled 498 M/T.
For the past five years, South African exports of this product have been following a continued rising trend.
In 2007, Spain became the key destination for South Africa’s Yellowfin tuna, importing 99% of the country’s total export volume, and which equaled 515 M/T. The remaining volume went to the United Kingdom, France and Netherlands.
South Africa’s share of the entire EU imports of this items represented 6% last year. This was 2% more than in 2006.
