According to FFA (Forum Fisheries Agency) the value of US imports of fresh albacore decreased by 36% to US$3212,543 in January 2008 driven by a 38 % fall in volumes to 52Mt which was partially offset by a 3 % rise in price to US$4.04/kg in comparison to January 2007.
The value of US imports of fresh bigeye rose in January 2008 by 13 % to US$3.6million compared to the corresponding month of 2007 resulting from an 18 % rise in volumes to 516Mt which was partially offset by a 4 % fall in price to US$7.01/kg.
The value of US imports of fresh yellowfin in January 2008 increased by 7 % to US$11.2million in comparison to January 2007 driven by a 10 % rise in price to US$7.84/kg which was partially offset by a 3 % fall in volumes to 1,430Mt.
