Papua New Guinea East Sepik police are investigating four gruesome killings which occurred during the festive season.
Two of the killings occurred in the Yangoru Saussia district while the other two were reported in Wewak town.
Acting provincial police commander Insp Daniel Kayver said the first killing occurred at Sima village in East Yangoru last Dec 29.
He said a 21-year-old woman from Pagwi was hit with an axe on the neck by her husband during a domestic argument. The woman died from the attack and police are looking for the husband.
In the second killing in the area, relatives of a crippled man at Japaraka village came to his rescue and killed a 33-year-old man who had attacked the disabled earlier.
The deceased was identified as Alphonse Mono Huajehau of Japaraka village.
In Wewak town, the first killing occurred on New Year’s Eve near the National Broadcasting Corporation compound where a 17-year-old boy was murdered.
Police said the body of the teenager was found on the rocks near the beach by a woman who went to fish.
The deceased from Kambaramba village in Angoram is an employee of the South Seas Tuna Corporation in Wewak.
