American Samoa American Samoa’s largest private employer, StarKist Samoa, hopes all workers return to work when production resumes tomorrow.
The two canneries in American Samoa shut down for the holidays with StarKist Samoa resuming production tomorrow while COS Samoa Packing is to restart production on January the 14th.
StarKist Samoa official Taeaoafua Dr. Meki Solomona said the company last week started airing notices on radio stations in American Samoa and Samoa reminding workers that full production resumes tomorrow.
The majority of cannery workers are from neighboring Samoa and many returned home for the holidays.
Meanwhile, the three airlines serving the inter-Samoa route have reported an increase in traffic from Samoa due to local residents returning after the holidays.
