Device Keeps Caught Tuna Asleep But Alive - No Stress ff

25 July 2007 Japan

Toshiro Urabe, representative of Osakana Kikaku Ltd., demonstrates a device that pumps seawater through a tube into the mouth of a tuna to keep it immobile and alive until just before serving, at the Japan International Seafood & Technology Expo in Tokyo July 18, 2007.

The company says that the pumped seawater, which simulates the experience of swimming, keeps the tuna in a sleep-like-state that reduces the fish's stress and allows customers to enjoy extremely fresh tuna.
