The Department of Primary Industries is urging fishermen to adhere to limits on the number of blue fin tuna they can take a day.

It is the second year in a row the big tuna have moved through the coastal waters in chase of an upswell of krill from off the continental shelf.
The director of Fisheries Victoria, Peter Appleford, says despite the lure fishermen need to adhere to the rules.
â€Those large tuna are very large, they’re catching them up to 130 kilos and that is a lot of fish,†he said.
â€We question anyone who would need, or any boat that would need, to bring home more than one or two of those fish because of the size of them. What we’re encouraging people to do is if they do catch them to bring them in as quick a time as they can to the boat and then release them in good health so they can go back to the stocks again.â€
