Federal Minister On Tuna Farm Boardff

21 October 2005 Australia
Port Lincoln aquaculture enterprise, Clean Seas Aquaculture Pty Ltd has appointed former federal minister Ian McLachlan to its board of directors.

Mr. McLachlan has held several roles in primary industry including National Farmers’ Federation president.

New Zealand fishing industry identity Sir Tipene O’Regan has also joined the Clean Seas board after experience as chair of the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission and the Sealord Group of Companies.

Clean Seas offshore wildcatch tuna farming program is currently being extended to include the production of fertilized Southern Bluefin Tuna eggs and the growth of fingerlings from a land-based breeding facility.

The new appointments follow an announcement last month of a $4.1 million Federal Government grant to further develop the company’s Southern Bluefin Tuna Propagation Program.
