Japanese Investors Pour Money In Fiji Tuna Companyff

Ten Japanese investors including a multi-millionaire have chosen locally based tuna company Tosa Bussan (Fiji) Limited as their latest investment area and also seek possible business opportunities in Fiji.

 

The ten are top business executives from Japan who are owners and managing directors of 10 companies involved in the food industry, investment and business planning.

 

Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase welcomed the investors saying Fiji’s future in terms of the economy looked very bright.

“Fiji is a very good investment destination and I must say we have recovered extremely well since 2000. We have had an average of a four per cent growth each year since then. I extend a warm welcome to you all and say to you that Fiji is glad to have you here. At the moment the future looks very good for the country, the

Government looks good, machinery and infrastructure is good and investment definitely looks good.”

Mr. Qarase highlighted to the investors the potential investment opportunity in the fisheries industry.

Japanese investor Kiyosho Okumura said he liked the business atmosphere in Fiji

Even though he was not certain of the success of his investment in the country, he was optimistic of the future.

“It feels relaxing here and although I don't know much about market prices here, I am confident our partners here in Fiji will look after the investment.”

The president of Tosa Bussan (Fiji) Limited, Hiroshi Tokuhisa, said this was the first team to visit Fiji through his company for investment.
