Demand of tuna bait for the tuna fishing industry in the Western central Pacific and Indian Ocean keeps growing, and New Zealand based Marine Foods has been closely involved for the last 9 years in finding the right tuna bait, in close cooperation with the tuna operators.  By supplying large volumes of all kinds of tuna bait, the company has become a leading supplier in this field. Although baits are mostly used in tuna surface longlining, there is also demand from bottom longliners fishing for other species. Bottom longliners mostly tend to use Squid and jack Mackerel (Trachurus declivis).
