Vietnam Leading Exporter Of Frozen Yellowfin In USAff

Vietnam has so far this year exported to the United States more than 1,500 tons of frozen yellowfin tuna, worth USD 11.036 million, ranking first among yellowfin tuna exporters and making up 28.6 percent of the US market share, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

 

The association also announced that the yellowfin tuna export volume and value saw increases of 42.5 percent and 47.6 percent, respectively.

 

Vietnam is currently followed by Trinidad, with 684 tons worth USD 5 million, and farther by the Philippines, Brazil, Costa Rica, Fiji, Mexico, Grenada and Sri Lanka.

 

In 2004, Vietnam exported 2,217 tons of fresh and frozen yellowfin tuna to the US worth USD 15.524 million, accounting for 14.2 percent of the US market share.
