A delegation from the Albacora Tuna Fishing Group recently visited the Ecuadorian Embassy in Spain. The delegation consisted of Mr. Ignacio Saenz de Ibarra, Delegate Advisor and Mr. Joaquin Gomez Villegas Director of the Albacora Group. The purpose of the visit was to report on the progress made on the project that the company Salica del Ecuador S.A. is making in Posorja, Ecuador. This company is part of the Spanish Albacora Group and is investing in the construction of docks, warehouses and coldstorages that are already being used by the Albacora vessels.
During the interview they indicated that in agreement with previous high management level meetings held in Ecuador, the Spanish “Cadiz Duty Free Zone†, in which the city council of Cadiz Spain is participating, may offer its support and expertise to establish also Duty Free Zone in Posorja to complete the ambitious fishing development project in this area.
For this purpose, the Spanish industrialists informed that they have scheduled a visit to Quito and Guayaquil for February 11th to meet the authorities of the Ecuadorian Government, the Guayaquil Town Council and other industrialist of the local sector.
