EU Will Not Increase Asian Single Duty Quotaff

After consulting EU member states and meeting with representatives of Asian nations, the EU commission has decided not to increase the single duty quota for Asian canned tuna. Thai companies had requested an increase of the quota due to the Tsunami, which hit the South–west coast of Thailand. The reason given for not increasing the quotas was that the tuna processing companies were not located in the tsunami–affected areas.
