German Ship Charged With Damaging Tuna Cages In Maltaff

The German captain of a vessel that collided with a fish farm being towed by a tug-boat owned by Melita Tuna Ltd was charged yesterday with damaging tuna cages through imprudence, carelessness or non-observance of regulations.

Leling Uwe, 45, was granted bail after being charged with damaging tuna cages to the detriment of Melita Tuna Ltd last Thursday.

Dr. George Said and Dr Edward Zammit Lewis appeared for Captain Uwe. Dr Said explained that the incident occurred off Delimara when the TMM Oaxaca collided with a fish farm being towed by a tug-boat owned by Melita Tuna Ltd.
