Strategies to decrease the maximize earnings and reduce the over exploitation of fish stocks in the Indian Ocean have been finalized by Mombasa stakeholders. According to the WWF, there have been conflicts over the harvesting of tuna.
World Wildlife Fund (WWF) nature governance coordinator, Jackson Kiplagat, said the plans are focused on minimizing the current activity of overfishing to secure maximum profits on tuna for the future for all stakeholders.
He outlined that the strategy would be implemented soon in order to ensure that the proper fishing gears are used within the Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZs) of the Indian Ocean.
