3 April 2013 Samoa
Samoa’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has issued a notice to recall all Chefs Choice Tuna cans distributed by Ah Liki Wholesale.

In a copy of the letter received by the Samoa Observer yesterday, the Ministry advised Ah Liki Wholesale to “recall, destroy and withhold” all Chefs Choice Tuna with batch numbers “V12/022835, V12/022837 and V12/022838.”

The cause of the recall could not be confirmed.

Attempts to obtain a comment from the Ministry of Health were unsuccessful.

“Existing and remaining stock of the identified batch numbers of ‘chef’s choice canned tuna’ are to be condemned and destroyed as authorized under the Food and Drugs Act 1967. The Ministry of Health will be in contact and oversee these processes”

The recall notice was issued on 21 March 2013 by Acting Director General of Health, Frances Brebner.
