Heinz Ghana No Involvement In Drugs Smuggleff

13 January 2004 Ghana

Yesterday, atuna.com reported on the seizure in Ghana of 674 kilogram of cocaine, which was picked up by some tuna boats. In this news report there was wrongly given impression that boats of a subsidiary of Heinz, TTV Limited, landed the drugs in Ghana. The drugs were dropped by small S- American airplanes off the coast of Ghana.

According to the latest information provided by Mr. Michael Mullen of Heinz U.K., there are no indications that any tuna boats related to Heinz Ghana are involved in the drugs smuggle in any way.

Investigations by the Ghanaian police are under way to determine exactly which tuna boats have been used, and so far the local police authorities have not at all implicated Heinz subsidiary, TTV Limited.
