A memorandum of fisheries co-operation has been signed between China and the Federated States of Micronesia to recognize the importance of tuna resource in the Pacific.
Both governments also agreed to further explore the possibilities for fisheries co-operation in the area of marine fishing and research, including China’s support for the FSM as host country for the future Western and Central Pacific Tuna Commission.
The signing took place during a visit to Pohnpei by a high level delegation from China headed by its Fisheries director, Zhang Hechen.
