Grupo Calvo’s Appoints Female New Director For Its Tuna Fleetff

The Spanish processing Calvo Group has appointed Ms Macarena Ubis its new fleet director.

Ms. Ubis has been with the group for the past 16 years. The company continues to have s strong commitment on promoting the internal talents the company has, it reported on Monday.

The new director of the Calvo fishing fleet joined the company in 1996 and in 1999 became part of the fleet department, where she operated as Merchant Director during the past few years, managing Calvo’s three tuna reefer vessels and two tuna purse seiners that are fishing in the Atlantic Ocean.

By appointing Ms. Ubis Fleet Manager, Calvo is reaffirming its bet on internal promotions and is breaking certain industry patterns by assigning a female as director of the fleet.

The company, founded in the early 40s by the Calvo family in the Galician town of Carballo, has annual sales of more than 900 million cans and over 500 million consumers in over 70 countries. The company is present in the markets of Brazil, Spain and Italy, under the brands Calvo, Gomes da Costa and Nostromo.
