Tuna To The Rescue During Flu Seasonff

14 January 2013 United States

The number of flu cases in the US has reached epidemic proportions, and one American health and fitness expert says eating tuna is key to boosting immunity in the winter months.

Tuna is a source of vitamin D, which is essential for preventing disease and maintaining strong bone strength, says Budge Collinson, creator of natural multivitamin producer, Youth Infusion. While sunlight is the best source of the vitamin, tuna is a good alternative when the days are shorter and colder.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that 7.3% of US deaths last week – just above epidemic threshold – were caused by pneumonia and the flu.
