2013 is a milestone year for StarKist Samoa.
The cannery will be celebrating its 50th birthday. Lots of activities are being planned to mark the golden anniversary of the territory’s largest employer.
The first day of production for the cannery in the new year is January 7th, and that’s also the day that the new CEO for the cannery’s parent company, StarKist, will be making a visit to American Samoa.
Sam Hwi Lee, a former president of Nestle Korea was appointed CEO of StarKist in October to replace In-Soo Cho who had been president for only 18 months. Mr. Lee has been serving on the StarKist board, and has also previously worked with Dole Food Co. and Armour Foods Co.
According to StarKist Samoa General Manager, Brett Butler, Mr. Lee will meet with the new administration.
