The former owners of the Alfageme SA tuna canneries filed another appeal in a bid to stop the sale of the company. The Lago family appealed to the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (Igape) in the Supreme Court on Sept. 21.

In early October, the Galician government postponed the sale of the cannery until Oct. 18 so the submitted take-over proposals and the appeal could be properly analyzed. The government and Igape’s legal services are still in the process of responding to the appeal.

Alfageme has two factories – in Vilaxoán and Ribadumia – and 150 workers.

Currently, three companies have expressed interest in acquiring Alfageme’s assets. They are Grupo Consorcio, Pescamar and Coswinga SL.
