In a press release, the US brand Crown Prince Seafood says that ISSF is moving towards creating a logo for product packed by its participating members. It also announces confirmation of the sustainable harvest of all tuna packed for the Crown Prince Natural line of products due to ISSF membership of one of its suppliers.
“We have been seeking sustainably harvested tuna for many years.â€
Through this statement, Crown Prince Seafood announced today the sustainably harvested status of its tuna products. The company concludes that this status has been achieved through the membership of its Thailand based canned tuna supplier, Mahachai Marine International (MMP), in the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF). MMP is the latest tuna processor to become a participant in the ISSF (a coalition of tuna industry companies, leading scientists and WWF, the world’s leading conservation organization) to improve tuna sustainability efforts around the world. Sustainability targets are achieved by compliance with Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMO).
Since 1948 Crown Prince has provided canned seafood to the American marketplace. In 1993, Crown Prince expanded its business into Mexico. Crown Prince has since added Crown Prince Natural and Ocean Prince to its brand lines. As an American family-owned business, three generations of the Hoffman family have worked within company.
