The Maltese Environmental Health Directorate has removed tuna steaks skinless boneless from the market as a precautionary measure and has warned the public that it is not to be consumed because of a level of Histamine that exceeds permitted limits established in Commission Regulation (EC) No 2073/2005 of 15 November 2005 on microbiological criteria for foodstuffs, as amended by Commission Regulation 1441 of 2007.
The frozen product, part of the VN/385/III/152 lot, originates from Vietnam.
The directorate said the Company involved was ordered to withdraw the involved batch from the market, but since there is a quantity that has ended up at the consumers, the Directorate is obliged to inform consumers of this recall.
