Tuna industry chief executive Brian Jeffries, the force behind some of SA’s most successful men, rarely recognised for his contribution, has been honored as a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia for service to the fishing and aquaculture industries.

Mr. Jeffries has had a number of roles, including being a part of the tuna industry’s development in Port Lincoln.

He says it’s an honor he will share with his peers in the industry.

“This is a tribute to the seafood industry not to me,” he says.

“I just happen to be an individual who’s benefited from everybody else’s efforts frankly, but these things are important to an industry I think rather than an individual - that the importance of the seafood industry is recognized,” he says.

In the seafood industry, he has worked with the late Dinko Lukin, Sam Sarin, Tony Santic and Hagen Stehr.
