With the global tuna supply tight, there is no end to the high prices in sight. German traders have told FoodNews that African suppliers are falling behind on their contracts.

“Ghana are well behind, and their indications for March-April are even higher than they were last month. This is further squeezing spot market prices,” a European trader said. “Importers are suffering because of this. When they cannot supply on time, their customers are willing to tell the market. They source their produce elsewhere and then charge the original supplier for the difference.”
