Spain’s frozen fish consumption in 2002 has increased by 13% compared with the previous year; with a financial value of Eur 753.83 million, according to data facilitated by the president of FROM, Mr. Alberto Lopez, who emphasized that the annual consumption of frozen fish corresponds to 4,6 kilos per capita.

According to the statistics of this institutional organism, a total of 132,244 tons of frozen fish was consumed in the Spanish homes in 2002.

The consumption per capita experienced a significant growth, especially in the Canary Islands, Aragón and Extremadura communities. As a result of this increase in the sales turnover of frozen fish, the FROM started a promotional campaign in collaboration with the EU.

This initiative counted on a budget of one million euros, of which 675,000 was destined to a centered TV advertising strategy.

The campaign is directed to the public in general and to professionals directly related to hotel and catering.
