Mauritius And Europe To Open Tuna Negotiationsff

The Council adopted a decision authorizing the Commission to open negotiations on behalf of the EU for the conclusion of a fisheries partnership agreement and protocol with the Republic of Mauritius.

This new fisheries partnership agreement and protocol will be concluded in line with the 15 July 2004 Council conclusions on fisheries partnership agreements. The protocol will define the tuna fishing opportunities to be granted to EU vessels, the financial compensation, the framework for the implementation of the sectoral support and the clauses related to the duration and the revision of the protocol.
