Japan Granted 6,000 Tons In Bluefin Tuna Allocationff

After six years without consensus, the international commission for conservation of southern bluefin tuna has agreed to allow 14,030 tons of the high-value tuna to be caught worldwide, with the largest share of 6,065 tons, allocated to Japan, Australian officials said last Friday.

The three-day meeting that ended Friday in Christchurch, New Zealand, involved representatives from commission member nations Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, South Korea.
